The German Kia dealer also changed my filter as they had a Kia tech update to change my filter fitted in April as new filter was updated. Just changed fuel filter on mine, I had been getting the water in the filter light occasionally and all the symptoms of a clogged up fuel filter. Changing it was easy and solved the problems. The sensor only detects a buildup of water in the filter canister. Water in diesel is not uncommon, just the degree that varies. Where you get your fuel is something to consider.
