12 posts · Joined 2014. #1 · Jan 31, 2014. I am interested in a Skoda Fabia vRS, it uses the twincharged 1.4 litre TSI engine that is I believe also used in some Audi A1s. From Googling around I get the impression that this engine (certainly in the vRS) is prone to failure necessitating replacement.
The most of the tuned 1.4 tsi have stock pistons without problem, pistons are durable till 270hp BUT 1.4 TSI 180hp version( Polo GTI, Ibiza Cupra,etc) have problems with high oil usage . Also the first 1.4 TSI CAVD(Scirocco) at 2008-09 production had problems with broken pistons this is why the 24S4 Update was a MUST from VW .

I was checking out this videos of 1.2 TSI and 1.4 TSI engines acceleration on youtube and I find the comparison hard to believe since the performance of both engines is practically the same.
